The accessible travel community are incredibly loyal to businesses that make them feel welcome, and they are more likely to tell their friends and families about their experience, good & bad!
Read on for our tips to attract the huge spending power of this community in the first place.
First up, understand that this community are searching for experiences and accommodation through all the usual channels, your regional tourism websites, the big booking platforms and of course google.
So here are a couple of ways you can get their attention;
1. Videos
Short promotional videos do more than sell your products, they also help visitors understand how they might participate. For example through a video visitors may be able to determine if the physical and/or sensory environment is one that they can manage or if they need to make their own adaptions to enable meaningful participation.
2. Imagery
Showcasing the diversity of your customers by having high quality photos of visitors from a range of ages, ethnicity, genders and abilities participating in your experience demonstrates that you welcome visitors to come as they are.
3. Knowledgeable employees
Investing time and sharing knowledge with your employees, especially those that have customer service roles is essential. Take the time to walk your employees through your experience and environment on a regular basis so that when a potential visitor calls with a very specific questions about how they may be able to participate, your employee can answer with confidence. Don’t be vague in your answer as this will only turn the visitor off. The key is to listen to your visitors.
4. Welcome statement
Make a statement on your website that you Welcome everyone to participate and should they have any questions about how they may participate then they are invited to get in touch. This sentiment goes a really long way.
